Macomb County has always been home to Jon Switalski, and his involvement in the community has given him a deep understanding of what matters most to our working families.

Jon grew up on Gunston near 10 Mile and Hoover in Warren, graduating from St. Clement High School. Jon learned the value of hard work from his parents. His mother, Theresa, worked as a substitute teacher in Warren while he was growing up, and currently works at Community Choice Credit Union. Jon’s father, John, recently retired from Detroit Edison as a union journeyman.

Between school, sports and his first job in high school working at Randazzo's Fruit Market, Jon has had the privilege of getting to know many Macomb County families over the years. Coming from a close-knit working family, Jon knows that our neighborhoods are strong because families stand together and look out for each other. As a state representative, Jon will be a strong voice for initiatives that strengthen our community, which will attract investment to Macomb County and create jobs now for working families.

After college, Jon began his work in public service by helping families cut red tape and solve problems as a congressional aide. He also worked hard building coalitions to protect our waterways and improve public schools.

In working toward a secure future for our families and our seniors, Jon is guided by his firm belief that each generation has a responsibility to the one that comes before it. He has worked in the home health care field to help senior citizens stay in their own homes instead of being forced into nursing homes.

As a Macomb County Commissioner, Jon has led the successful dental discount initiative that saves residents up to 60 percent off dental bills. This program is the first of its kind in Michigan.

As a state representative, Jon will continue fighting for initiatives that support Macomb County’s working families.
